Welcome

I’d like to welcome you to MKStringer.com. I got word today (9/27/21) that this domain was available and I’ve got it up and running.

What I plan to do here is document my current tech findings in virtualization, containers (including K8S), and homelab. I’m on a beefy PC on Windows 11, a local NAS device, and I have a MBP as well for testing and creating VMs. I also have experience in home repair and power systems, and have recently gotten backup power at the house. I’ll discuss my progress there as well.

Personally, I have over 30 years in IT, with sysadmin in Windows and Unix, then consultant for virtualization, compute and storage and converged/hyperconverged systems, now Solutions Architect for a UK-based reseller/services company. I research things on my own – and plan to document them here. I’ve lived in virtualization for a long time and know containers from my days as a Solaris sysadmin. Yup, Unix has had them for over 10 years.

I live in SE HTX, on the north side of Ellington Field, our local private/military/NASA field that the astronauts use. We also have a Predator UAV squadron, and a Air National Guard unit out the airport. I’m a father of 3, husband for 27 years, and a grandfather of one.
